My work arises from a feeling of alienation, those who live at the margins of society represent and inspire the characters in my work. What happens when there is no fixed framework to classify someone? How do one’s behavior and habits influence these classifications and how do these characters find shelter in the midst of alienation? Are some of the questions that concern my practice.
This process brings about a circular relation between the individuals that I meet and myself, which feeds into the work. With an interest in psychology and a focus on character studies, I have explored the expression of feelings of alienation and belongingness by working interdisciplinary.
Through painting I try to shift the disoriented nature of alienation into a more grounded strength, by channeling the notion of individual force. Here, my interests in character studies and personal experiences come together as one.
